Bonfouca is the community along Bayou Bonfouca southwest of Olde Towne, where Highway 433 crosses toward the lake — an old settlement of waterfront cottages, camps, and boat sheds, with newer houses filling in the higher lots. The bayou is tidal and wide here, and it delivered the 2005 surge straight into the neighborhood. Many of the houses along the water were raised afterward; the ones a few streets back were dried, patched, and reoccupied.
Call us about mold in Bonfouca. Describe what you see or smell and what got wet. If a job has us tied up, expect a scheduled callback, and we’ll say which number to look for.
The houses that were dried and closed up fast in 2005 and 2006 are the ones that still produce a musty room — a smell that never quite left and gets stronger after rain. That’s mold odor removal work, and when we open the wall it sometimes turns into more. Raised camps with a damp, shaded space underneath are crawl space mold remediation calls.
Let us know the room, the material that got wet, and how long it has been sitting. Removing the mold is what we do, and nothing else.
Call and tell us what you found.
Cold air through a hot attic makes condensation, and a musty blast every time the unit starts is the tell. Growth at the coil, plenum, or in wet flex duct — cleaned or replaced so the system stops moving it around.
Raised houses in Olde Towne, along Bayou Liberty, and every home lifted after Katrina have a damp space underneath. Joists and subfloor cleaned, wet insulation out, and what has to change for it to stay dry.
One room that smells like a wet box after every rain has a reason. We find the material behind the smell, remove it, and clean the cavity — instead of masking it.
Containment, negative pressure, and the wet drywall, trim, and insulation out of the house — framing cleaned and dried before anything gets closed up again.
A dark patch on a ceiling or baseboard after a long leak gets the same removal as any other growth. CDC says the type doesn’t change the job; the water behind it is what matters.
A surge line along every wall, a roof that leaked through a whole season, or a house that sat shut and wet after Ida. Room-by-room containment and removal on one plan, one report.
Dark staining on the roof deck after a leak, a blown-off shingle, or a bath fan dumping into the attic. Cleaned in place with the attic sealed off from the rooms below.
The ceiling over the shower, the wall behind the toilet, the floor of the vanity cabinet. Small rooms that never dry, and removal that holds once the moisture is handled.
